In Flight Held, Behnaz Monzavi moves between memory and migration, tracing the quiet weight of what is carried and what takes wing. Drawing from the delicate language of Persian miniature painting, she gathers birds, flowers, and the female body into a space where personal and cultural histories intertwine.
Flight speaks to longing, movement, and the instinct toward freedom. Held suggests care, inheritance, and the unseen strength required to carry memory across distance. Through layered surfaces and hand-printed traces, the work reveals histories not as fixed stories, but as living forms-reshaped, remembered, and passed on.
Nature becomes both witness and companion. The body holds what cannot be spoken. Within diaspora, resilience is not loud, but enduring-an intimate act of preservation, a quiet continuity between past and present.
Behnaz will also be joined by Kamran Tavangar for a fireside chat exploring culture, identity, artistic practice, and shared perspectives through conversation.
