Black Performance Art: From Juneteenth On

Performance art and music exist at the core of Black expression, reflecting the realities of Black experience in America through sights and sound. Join LabCentral in observation of Juneteenth and exploring the evolution of Black art throughout several eras of American history: the 1860s, 1920s, 1960s, 1990s, and 2010s. You will hear and see several artistic performances representing each era - in the form of powerful poems by Osamase Ekhator, & Amanda Shea; masterful rhymes by Milkshaw Benedict lively music from DJ Fab, and electrifying dances from local step team, SXChocolateBC. Food and drink are to be provided.
